Camacho, as he is affectionately known, is best described by his fellow peers, Cookie - his wife and kids, from his homeland in New Jersey as "the International DJ", who's been, there seen it, and done it. With more than a thirty year span of spinning records, that's got to be one of the longest records for any club jock hasn't it? "When I'm not working, I make a point of going to check out other DJ's. It keeps me upfront and I like to support others out there. So, while there are plenty of people who still come and hear me play, I'll keep on working", he says warmly with a passion in his voice that very strong for the music.
Apart from working along side the who's who of legendary jocks Stateside, David has been continuously producing records too. Since 1990, when his first mix with fellow homeboy Kerri Chandler, on the classic 'My My Lover' by Dee Dee Brave (Champion Records) peaked, in clubs across New York and Jersey. It even gained a worthy UK release which for Camacho, cemented his decision to do a solo follow-up, 'The Camacho' EP which appeared on the now defunct NuGroove label.
To date his prodction credits can be found cuts by Michael Watford (So Into You), Gerideau (Take A Stand For Love), Wanda Rogers (Prove Your Love), and many other quintessential House gems of old. Momentarily, back off the mixes he dished up for the recent vocal single by Gerideau, entitled 'Bring It Back To Love', he and production partner of his NJ based Wake Up record label have been collaborating with DJ/producer amigo Benji Candelario, and artistes such as Cassio Ware and Kenya Travers in and around his heavyweight DJ schedule - his classics and song loaded sets are always a breath of fresh air to be heard when he guests in London. Places like the Loft, father to Paul 'Trouble' Anderson are "one of his favourite clubs" and as he also put "one of few places that plays House music properly alongside Classic". Truly, an all round loveable guy Camacho's on the one with plenty of Nu Yorican Soul.
