Ibadan Records delivers a selection of some of the greatest dance classics of all time. The music of Ten City not only defines a generation of club music but stands up creatively and sonically more than a decade after its initial release. The Best Of Ten City is a must for original followers of the band and essential for all young dance music enthusiasts. The three members of Ten City (Byron Stingily, Byron Burke and Herb Lawson) met in a rehearsal studio in Chicago in 1985. Lawson was drawn from R&B band, Rise, while Stingily fronted Burke's B Rude Inc. outfit. In 1986 they signed to Atlantic Records. At a time when most dance music was electronic, Ten City revolutionized the boundaries of house by incorporating live elements into their productions. Their talent for song writing further distinguished them from many contemporaries and set new standards for melody and lyrical content in dance. The first single "Devotion" from debut album "Foundation", was an instant club hit. Their follow-up crossover smash, "That's The Way Love Is", entered the UK Top 10.s

 A string of club and chart hits followed into the mid 90's before the band broke up. "Foundation" represents a collaborative effort between the group and house music guru Marshall Jefferson. Their last album for Atlantic Records, "No House Big Enough" is a full blown Ten City production with David Morales joining the fold as producer on "My Peace Of Heaven". The Best Of Ten City reflects their Atlantic Records years (their last album "That Was Then, This Is Now" came out on Columbia Records) with work from the "Foundation" (1989), "State Of Mind" (1990) and "No House Big Enough" (1992) albums. The selection includes rare demo and extended versions of tracks only previously released on vinyl. The demo versions offer a succinct insight into the artist's intent while the extended versions capture some of the greatest moments of early club life. Joe Claussell and Kerri Chandler also deliver remixes of "Nothing's Changed" and "Whatever Makes You Happy". The Best Of Ten City will capture the imaginations of old fans and new.
